Facebook Portal Now Supports Zoom | MakeUseOf

Facebook Portal now supports Zoom. Whether you’re looking to collaborate with coworkers or chat face-to-face with a group of friends, having access to Zoom on Portal can definitely come in handy.

Zoom Comes to Facebook Portal

If you haven’t heard, the Facebook Portal is a smart video-calling device that lets you connect with friends, family, and coworkers.

In an About Facebook blog post, Facebook announced that it’s bringing Zoom to Portal. This is in addition to Portal TV’s new integration with Netflix.

Now that you can use Zoom on Portal, you can connect with up to 25 people on your screen at one time. Fortunately, Zoom’s integration with Portal won’t change how you use Zoom—if anything, Portal’s features will make the Zoom experience even better.

Portal’s Smart Camera expands when other people enter the room, and also tracks your movement. The device also drowns out background noise, and even supports hands-free calling.

Thankfully, all of Portal’s features will be applied to Zoom calls. Users will also get to take advantage of Zoom’s whiteboard feature.

Zoom isn’t the only video-conferencing platform coming to Portal. Facebook has also added support for BlueJeans, GoToMeeting, and Webex. You can easily download any of these apps in the App section of your Portal device.

Right now, all of these video-calling apps are available for the Portal, Portal Mini, and the Portal+. Facebook hasn’t added support for the Portal TV just yet.

Portal Gets More Workplace-Friendly

At first, Facebook Portal seemed like a device that was solely for keeping in touch with friends and family. Now that it gives users access to Zoom and other video-calling apps, it’s becoming much more convenient for anyone who works from home.

And since Zoom is expected to operate using the same interface that you’re used to, you should have no problem starting up Zoom on your device and solving any issues that might come up.
