Microsoft Journal now lets you select whatever color you prefer when making marks on a page, alongside some other small features.
Microsoft Gives Journal a Small Upgrade
On Thursday, Lainie Huston of Microsoft Garage announced a feature update for Journal, the company’s “ink-focused” notes app. Make sure you update to the latest version to try out the handy new additions (all of which, are based on user feedback):
- Printer support – print and export pages to a printer, a PDF, or to OneNote
- Custom ink colors – tap the pen or pencil and select any color you want from the picker
- Pen pressure support – register how lightly or heavily you write with your pen, but only if you have a compatible pen and/or graphics tablet (enable in Pen Settings menu)
- Add images – attach images a page with toolbar under the Plus (+) icon, or drag and drop
Journal’s performance has also been improved, so the app should open more reliably now and function more smoothly in general. Some minor bugs have been fixed as well.
It’s only been a month since Microsoft reimagined Journal and released it for free.
What Feature Would You Like to See Added to Journal?
The team behind Journal has discovered that the Scratch out ink gesture is by far the most popularly used amongst the app’s users. Lassoing has “also been a big hit,” since it’s such a quick and easy way to select ink on the page.
Apparently, one of the top requests from Journal users is to add a selection of layouts for your journal pages. Microsoft has confirmed that it is being worked on and is coming soon!
