The Apple TV App is now officially available on Google’s latest Chromecast.
This lets Chromecast owners who are subscribed to Apple TV+ stream their favorite shows to their telly even if they don’t have an Apple device. Support for additional Google TVs from Sony and TCL is coming in the future, but no specifics beyond that were given.
Chromecast Finally Lands Apple TV+
According to the official announcement on the Google blog, the app supports voice control through Google Assistant although that feature is arriving globally in the coming months. With it, you’ll be able to ask Google to do things such as launch the Apple TV app, play a specific title, add Apple Originals to your watchlist for later, and similar.
People who have the new Chromecast with Google TV are free to install the Apple TV software by navigating to the “Apps” tab or the apps row in the “For You” tab.
The Apple TV app has been available out of the box on many smart television sets from the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony, Vizio, and others, including Roku boxes and Amazon’s Fire Sticks. The hope is that the expanded availability of the software on non-Apple devices may eventually give people more reasons to subscribe to Apple TV+.

All of the Apple Originals are now available through your Chromecast, including series like Ted Lasso, which was recently nominated for two Golden Globes, as well as the alt-history Space Race show For All Mankind (season two debuts tomorrow), The Morning Show, and Servant. Although Apple TV+ has fewer films, all releases are available via your Chromecast, including Tom Hanks-starred WWII epic Greyhound and Palmer, starring Justin Timberlake.
Last but not least, the app includes your purchased or rented movies and TV shows, as well as personalized recommendations and third-party Apple TV channels.
A Chromecast Packed With the Latest Tech
Google has advanced its living room efforts with the recent release of the new Chromecast. An updated version of its existing HDMI dongle, then accessory features better hardware and runs the Google TV software. It comes with a voice remote sporting a dedicated Assistant button and programmable TV controls for power, volume, and input.

The accessory is capable of streaming video in up to 4K HDR and 60 frames per second. The underlying software helps organize movies and TV shows from major services into a single screen with personalized recommendations.
