Looks Like Samsung Might Ditch Power Adapters After All

Delta Online News

Whether we want to give Apple credit or not, the smartphone industry does tend to follow the Cupertino-based firm’s moves. Not everything Apple does is worth following, and when it comes to leaving the power adapters out of smartphone boxes, that’s one that seemed better left unfollowed.

Samsung appeared to have planted its flag firmly on the side of including power bricks with its phones, going as far as to poke fun at Apple for its decision to leave them out in a now-deleted Facebook post.

However, a new certification reported by Brazilian site Tecnoblog suggests that Samsung’s upcoming flagship phones won’t include power bricks in the box.

Details Leak on What Comes With the Galaxy S21 Series

The latest Samsung Galaxy S21 leak comes from ANATEL, the South American equivalent of the FCC. The certification board looked at the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra and reported that they do not come with a charging brick in the retail packaging.

Of course, Samsung recently poked fun at Apple for removing power bricks from the box, so it would be a little hypocritical for the company to backpedal on its stance and remove the adapters from its phones’ packaging.

The report doesn’t necessarily confirm that the phones will go without power adapters. We need to continue treating this as a rumor until Samsung announces the Galaxy S21 series of phones officially. It could be that Samsung is removing power adapters in South America but leaving the bricks in the box in other regions, or the certification board could be mistaken.

At this point, we need to wait and see what Samsung announces. If it does decide to remove the power bricks, it’ll be interesting to see how the firm can spin the decision to avoid looking foolish.

This wouldn’t be the first time Samsung has mocked an Apple decision only to follow along. Samsung was quick to dismiss Apple’s removal of the headphone jack. A couple of years passed, though, and Samsung devices no longer came with headphone ports either. The company also poked fun at the notch design for selfie cameras, but it also adopted that for its phones.

When Will We Know More About the Samsung Galaxy S21 Series?

Unfortunately, it’s not clear when Samsung intends to announce and release the Galaxy S21 line of phones. The prevailing rumor is that the company will release the phone in early January, meaning it should soon announce the phones. We’ll have to wait and see what Samsung does regarding charging adapters.
