A little while ago, we reported on Microsoft’s declaration to fix the problems that plague Xbox Series X controllers, such as unresponsive buttons and sporadic disconnections. While the former problem may still persist, the latter has been fixed by Microsoft in the latest patch.
Microsoft’s Update for Xbox Controllers
In case you missed it, we originally reported on how Microsoft is fixing unresponsive buttons and disconnection issues. At the time, we didn’t know when Microsoft would fix these problems, but it turns out the company is working quicker than we first thought.
Microsoft employee Jason Ronald posted a Tweet that’s good news for those with spotty controller connections:
Lots of Xbox news this week, but in case you missed it we released our March Xbox System Update yesterday.
In addition to the new features, this release also fixes many of the controller disconnects players have reported.

The update is still brand new, so users haven’t had a lot of time to give it a try and see which problems still plague their controllers. However, let’s hope that this is the end of the annoying Xbox controller disconnection bug.
One More Bug Squashed
Microsoft has declared that it’s fixing all of the Xbox Series X controller problems, but not many people would have guessed they’d start so soon. Let’s hope Microsoft gets around to fixing the other issues that users have found with the brand new controller.
If the update doesn’t seem to fix the problem, don’t worry. There are plenty of tricks you can try to help fix a disconnecting controller problem.
