Snapchat Now Lets Creators Display Subscriber Counts | MakeUseOf

Have you been dying to show off your subscriber count on Snapchat? Fortunately, creators now have the option to publicly display their follower counts on their profiles.

Showing Off on Snapchat

Snapchat is finally letting creators display public follower counts on their profiles. Compared to social networks like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook—all of which have displayed public follower counts for years—Snapchat seems eons behind.

But now, Snapchat is no longer stuck in the past. The platform is rolling out a public follower count to benefit creators on the app.

Brands use follower counts to determine which users to sponsor. Without a public follower count, brands typically have to message users to ask for that information.

That said, having subscribers on display makes it much easier for brands to find creators to partner with. It’s a win-win for both Snapchat creators and sponsors.

In a statement to Variety, a Snapchat spokesperson remarked on the platform’s decision to add a public follower count, saying:

We’ve listened to feedback from our creator community and many of them expressed interest in having the option to show that their community on Snapchat is growing. So, starting today, we are giving creators the option to make subscriber counts visible on their public profiles.

Creators can easily toggle the follower count metric on and off from Snapchat’s settings. Celebrities like Kylie Jenner, DJ Khaled, and Cardi B are already displaying their impressive follower count on their profiles.

Unfortunately, not everyone can take advantage of the subscriber count—you have to be an established creator with a public profile. And if you haven’t heard of creator profiles, Snapchat rolled out the feature in September 2020.

Much like verified Snap Stars’ profiles, creator profiles allow users to have a permanent public profile on the app. This provides creators with a host of tools to gain insight into their audience and connect with brands. It also lets creators interact with their fans, as well as display photo and video highlights on their profile.

Snapchat Focuses on Its Community of Creators

Creators and influencers are a vital part of every social media platform. It seems like Snapchat has finally started to realize this, as it’s just starting to roll out more beneficial tools for creators on the app. With this change, Snapchat is on its way to becoming a better platform for influencers.

Even if you’re not a creator on Snapchat, and can’t take advantage of the follower count feature, you can still enjoy using the app’s collection of hilarious filters and lenses.
