Microsoft’s Immersive Reader is immensely useful for reading text files. The company is now bringing this feature to four more Office apps to let you read the text without any hassle.
How Immersive Reader Works
Immersive Reader strips off all the unnecessary items from your screen except for the text that you want to read. It can even read your text out loud for you highlighting each word that it’s speaking.
This makes reading the text in your files a whole lot easier.
Immersive Reader Makes Its Way to Four More Office Apps
On its Education Blog, Microsoft recently announced that it’ll be bringing support for Immersive Reader to four more apps.
The official announcement read:
We are thrilled to announce that the Immersive Reader is rolling out to four additional Microsoft apps and services, including PowerPoint for the web, OneDrive, SharePoint and MakeCode. This set up updates that bring this powerful literacy tool to even more places!
As you can notice, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and MakeCode are the apps getting this feature.
Using Immersive Reader in Office Apps
Immersive Reader has been made available specifically in the areas of the apps where you need it the most.
PowerPoint on the Web
In PowerPoint for the web, you have two areas where you can trigger Immersive Reader.
First, you can open Immersive Reader from your slides. This helps read the text in your slides.
Second, Immersive Reader is added to each slide’s notes section. This way, in addition to slides, you can enable the feature for your custom notes as well.
SharePoint
SharePoint Pages are getting Immersive Reader to make it easier for you to read the content on your pages.
Microsoft did an internal hackathon last fall to test this, and it seemed to do well.
OneDrive
With Immersive Reader in OneDrive, you can read the text in your Word documents and other text files with much more ease.
The option for this feature has been added to OneDrive’s main menu making it easier to access the feature.
MakeCode
Reading MakeCode’s Arcade tutorials and project details has gotten easier with the integration of Immersive Reader. Your tutorials will now take up your full-screen letting you focus on each bit of the text.
Read Text With Ease in More Office Apps
If you prefer Immersive Reader to read the text in your files, you can now do that in four more Office apps. This will definitely enhance your reading experience in these apps.
