How to Disable Fast Wired and Wireless Charging on Samsung Galaxy Phones

Delta Online News

Samsung phones ship with 18W or 25W wired fast charging support, with some selected models also supporting up to 45W charging speeds. Additionally, Samsung also supports wireless fast charging speeds of up to 15W.

While fast charging ensures your phone will spend little time on the charger, it does have a negative impact on the battery's lifespan. Thankfully, Samsung offers an option to disable wired and wireless fast charging if you want to protect and extend the lifespan of your phone's battery.

Disable Super Fast Charging on Your Samsung Smartphone

Disabling Super Fast Charging will lead to your Samsung Galaxy device charging at 18W speeds instead of 25/45W. In case the device you own does not support Super Fast Charging, the option to disable it will be missing as well.

Below is a list of Samsung smartphones that support Super Fast wired charging:

  • Galaxy S21 series
  • Galaxy Note 20 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold 2/3
  • Galaxy S20 series
  • Galaxy A52/A51
  • Galaxy A72
  • Galaxy Note 10 series

You can also disable Fast charging on your Samsung Galaxy device, which will reduce the charging speeds from 18W to a paltry 10W. This will further help extend the battery's lifespan, but the charging times will see a noticeable jump.

You can use this option if you tend to charge your Samsung phone overnight. Read our guide to know why fast charging is bad for your phone's battery life.

Extend Your Phone Battery's Lifespan

If you want to extend the lifespan of the battery of your Samsung Galaxy device, it is strongly recommended that you disable all kinds of fast wired or wireless charging on it. This will help reduce the heat generated, which in turn will make your battery stay healthy for longer.

This is obviously only useful if you don't mind your Samsung phone taking a long time to charge. If you are always on the move and don't always have access to a power socket or charger, it is best to keep the fast charging options enabled for the convenience that they bring.
